The story on how P.T. Barnum came from nothing to create a
spectacular show that gives people of different backgrounds a chance to shine.
From the songwriters from ‘La La Land’ they bring wonderful new
soundtrack in ‘The Greatest Showman’. The choreography was enjoyable in the
film. Hugh Jackman was great in this film, along with the rest of the cast such
as Zendaya, Zac Efron, and Keala Settle. The story was an emotional and
inspirational tale where everyone could relate to this film.
Hugh Jackman developed this film for seven years, in part, due to
studios not willing to take a risk on an original musical. You can tell they
used a few CGI, but the cinematography was beautiful and the CGI added to the
character. This is actually the Director, Michael Gracey’s, directorial debut
after twenty years as an Animator, Digital Compositor, and Visual Effects which
the skills shown through the CGI.
Wished they addressed more on the Circus Crew talking to P.T.
about their feelings in the way he treated them, but he suddenly breaks into a
song, which could be him realizing how he treated them. P.T worked so hard to
be accepted, that he became blinded by the people who already accepted him.
My friend pointed out the connection ‘The Greatest Showman’ had
with ‘Hamilton: The Musical’. Charity is
similar to Eliza in giving up her life of security to marry their husbands. P.T. like
Alexander Hamilton (‘Will never be satisfied’)
This is a film that
the whole family can enjoy~
